Be Your Own Lie Detector
AS SURE AS THE SUN SHINES, everyday sociopaths will lie. Because practiced liars with liftie conscience are good at lying and are skilled at fooling people, they are difficult to catch in a lie. Therefore, overconfidence regarding your ability to detect lies can be one of the biggest missteps. Never underestimate your opponent !
There are, however, ways you can attempt to stack the odds in your favor. Being aware that people aren’t always going to be as truthful with you as you are with them is a big step. That’s not to say you should assume every man you talk to is a liar. Profiling doesn’t promote being cynical; it helps you become aware. Here are few ways to spot a liar.
Good Eye Contact May Mean Good Liar
It seems counter intuitive, but sometimes liars actually give you more eye contact than truth tellers. Maybe it’s because they know you’re looking for giveaway eyes. Maybe they realize that women may not trust a man who can’t look them straight in the eye. Whatever the reason, among “Machiavellian types” in particular, eye contact may intensify during deception. (The term “Machiavellian” usually refers to people who don’t care about whom they hurt as long as they reach their goal, whether it is power, money, or something else. In fact, these types often get a sadistic pleasure in watching others squirm as they plunder and pillage their way to the top.)
Mona Lisa Smile?
It’s long been suspected that Mona Lisa has something to hide. A lot of the controversy lies behind that striking, ambiguous smile. So what lies behind your date’s smile? Well, if it’s an “enjoyment smile,” maybe only the thrill of being with you! Big and bright “enjoyment smiles” involve both the lips and the eyes. You’ll also notice the crinkles at the corners of his eyes. “Enjoyment smiles” last less than five seconds.
In contrast, what are called “masking smiles” tend to last longer. . . the longer to deceive you with! These are the smiles that may be indicative of a cover-up. Watch for smiles that don’t involve the eyes, have a hint of negative emotion in the muscle movement, or are more pronounced toward one side of the face (a crooked smile) .
A Bunk, Not A Wink
The stress of deception can set a liar all afiutterhis lids, that is. As the burden of a lie weighs upon its perpetrator his blink rate may go up.

Great article you have here. Lie always depends on the reasons why you lie but I guess it is not healthy in a relationship.
