Location, Put Yourself Within Reach

approachThere is a truism in the real estate business that three most important factors to consider in buying property are: location, location, location.

I think the same thing could be said for how to make your self approachable. If you sit in a booth at a restaurant instead of at the counter, if you hide at a corner table instead of sitting right next to the dance floor, or if you always sit next to a member of the same sex on the bus, you make it much mire difficult for someone to approach you.

Put yourself within reach!

When you are at party, stay where the people are. You can't hide out in the den and expect to meet anyone when everyone else is in the living room. If you are at a night club, you will be a lot more accessible if you sit at the bar, instead of at a table that requires someone to walk through an obstacle course just to get to you.

If you see someone interesting across the room from you, find an excuse to walk by him or her. Even though there is a more direct route to the restroom, for example, take the long way, make eye contact, and flash a smile as you pass by. Repeat the same routine on the way back. If you get a good response, this might be the perfect time to ask a dance.
