what dating sites like pof should do is try restricting the number of messages a guy can send down to 1 a day. That would ensure more thought is put into the message and it would ensure the end to blancet messaging, which possibly floods pof with mail so it gets too hard for guys who are serious about one person to reach them.

I'm not 100% sure why its so bad for getting a response. Might be people not serious, too many males, fake profiles... etc. Who knows, maybe all of those reasons.

I have a few women that i exchanged numbers with who message me from time to time, but havent met/reached anyone I'd like to develope any kind of physical connection with.

PoF: Don't Bother

I had heard PoF was a site that basically the bottom of the social barrel tended to navigate around. I was bored and had nothing better to do than see and hey, who knows, maybe I'd meet a nice woman.

Oh boy was I wrong.

That subject aside, I would get emails from the other men saying things like,"Welcome aboard! You should try to nail a chick whose handle is [whatever] oh and don't mess with [member_whoever] because she's just a player" and stuff like that. And a lot of the guys are actually so sexually loose that they also would post profiles under male for male searches.

Talk about a bunch of desperate dudes!! I'm in pretty good shape and above average looks, young, and a recent college grad who also has a band. So, I'm in pretty decent shape. I can see why most of the men on that site complain about not being responded to and it's their own fault. Seriously, if they had to rename PoF to reflect the male membership it would be...

This is a copy of the message I gave when asked why I wouldn't recommend this site to friends upon my deleting my account: Did not like the idea that when using mobile device other users knew where I was. I have been reading the post on this website tonight for awhile. And I really don't understand some of the women's comments about how they went for the young good looking guy. Fell for him, had sex with him and after several months never heard from him again, and somehow that is plenty of fish's fault. Okay, I am starting to think that POF stands for “Plenty of Flesh”. Because I guess I’ll just sign off after two weeks. I am not religious but would rather join a church than join this site again.
First of all the few guys I’ve been on dates with so far have told me there is no shortage of women on this site that will jump right in the sack with them-first date (like “hint, hint”). There are only two reasons a woman will sleep with a man on the first date: She’s either drunk or wants something from you (unless you drug her). THAT IS NOT ME! Wanted to make that clear right from the start but they don’t care. Married men especially: “I’m separated, can’t afford a divorce, we sleep in separate bedrooms . . .” Blah, blah, blah. And then, “where would you like to go for a weekend” after they INVITED you to have a few drinks and they allow you to pay half. Yeah, right. I have some money but I’m not going to get into a situation. Everyone is broke, a loser or a boaster that goes off on tangents: political, historical or religiously. And don’t get me started on Match.com. I will be the first to point out I am not perfect, but I am a well-adjusted, normal woman, business and home owner with no emotional baggage, not crazy, very stable in mind, body and business.
I just wanted to have a normal conversation where we could both be on the same page and interests and have a few laughs and save the sex and kissing and hand holding for when we got to know each other better. But apparently no one on the site feels that way or at least that I have found. As I said there are plenty of women on there that will have sex that right out of the gate-not me-so that’s it for me. Plentyof-Fail

After trying this site on and off for 6 years I can say it's very unsatisfying and even bad for a mans self esteem. I am an attractive normal guy and it just doesn't work for me, as I am currently a paying member I can now check to see how fast woman read and delete all my messages. I After spending countless hours reading profiles and writing differnet styles of messages nothing seems to work. So my experience is that it's just none responsive and pointless. My guess is its flooded and just a zoo for womans inbox's.

Forums are Horrible

I just deleted my account and had no intentions to do so, until i asked a question about my picture(me and my daughter) which was written underneath. And even discussed in profile. And all I got was nasty comments from almost all, and when I attempted to try to make changes(by the way, it is not easy to upload images) one member kept going and finally whrn I went too ask for help on deleting post, Faceless(they had no pic) followed to comment their.

A place full of nasty guys

I found plentyoffish a waste of time, I considered myself an attractive woman in my 40s, I dated two guys and both were terrible experiences. Please stay away from lotofbilly, this guy is sick, a player, goes out with different women at the same time, a very self centered, egocentric person, who even at one point listed on his profile all the women he met on POF, about 10, that he dated in less than year. He even admitted been a MANHO. He said he gets bored pretty easily and needs to move on to the next. Him like most of the guys on this site are looking just for sex and don't care at all for other's feelings. He recently switched his profile from long term to dating...he is totally lier, stay away from him.

It is not Markus fault that this site has so many jerks on it. You think you have found someone then he ends up wanting to only have cyber sex.

The majority of the problems mentioned here regarding POF apply to all dating sites. However, if there is as big an imbalance of men to women as someone mentioned then men should go elsewhere, because other paid sites are about 50-50. Almost all women's profiles say 'looking for decent honest guy', but whilst men get accused of mainly looking for sex, women place far too much weight on looks which is why they never find the right type of person and end up with cheats,liars etc. The best looking people have the most temptation to be cheats. Women can't work that out it appears :-).

If you want to date single moms, this is the place for you, I swear, I get several messages a week, or girls interested in me using the "meet me" feature and 99% of the time they have children, honestly, don't people wait until they're married to have kids anymore? and secondly, doesn't anyone value a relationship/family anymore?

i cant give p.o.f a good rating because im a handsome guy and i send out countless e-mails and dont get many responses.it seems as if all the profiles they show are illegitamate.when you try to chat with someone that is "online" its either declined or it "times out".im just looking for someone to share life with but i cant seem to find anyone here.

My experience has been pretty rubbish.

Expected outcome: Joined pof, met some people, chatted for a few weeks, then exchanged number several times with different girls... met, had a few nice dates. Then of them found the right one for me (we clicked)... and things progressed from there. Also, the ones I didn't click with romantically (quite a few people) most of them are still good friends! ---Now, Wouldn't That Be Nice!!!

Actual real world outcome: Joined pof, then got loads of views as soon as I signed up. No one contacted me accept one person who I really wasn't attracted to and she only sent a "hi, how are we today". I didn't get any response from anyone else... so I went on the offensive (sending my own emails out). I was quite disappointed to see I didn't get responses from the first few! Little did I know that this would be the theme for my whole time on there. It says only 1/3 of messages sent get response on adv... which I believe is absolute rubbish for even a good looking guy... more like 1/10, even if you are attractive.... and 1/40 - 1/100 if you are average... and probably zero if you are not average or above.

Now, eventually I turned my profile into an awesome piece of writing (I put the energy in). And I got some good pictures up. My profile then got faved 3 times, I got 22 wantstomeet, get mailed now and again. But the problem remains that when I message the kind of girl who I think I could attract in the real world she wont so much as message me back! I met one person through the site... and she looked loads different to her pictures (they weren't recent and her body type had changed massively).

Seriously fed-up with online dating now! Didn't know it could be so draining on so many levels. Awful waste of time and effort.

I know this is about pof... but also have prob on cupid: there I can get the attention of the kind of girls I'm interested in, but they flake out either before arranging a date or just after. 1. Getting harass by member? you can only block them by receiving a message from them ONLY. Meaning by blocking the user, he would no longer be able to sent messages anymore. BUT he still have access to your profiles and pictures you add and informations. So it is not fully blocking the person like Facebook. Block = access to your profile and messages = privacy and buzz off.

2. The site as so many fake profiles it is incredible, you can find them by using Who stole my picture addon from Firefox and search there picture on the internet like google or Tineye and then you would see a full series of porn pictures of the picture they are using to lure you to trade or to lie.

3. Reporting members for fake or not seeing the picture. Sure there is that option to report them. But sadly they dont do nothing about it. A month later the profile still up and same pictures and sometimes new ones they add from the series of porn they have. POF dont care.

4. ADS on their website so HORRIBLE, naked gross pictures they have. Use Adblock Plus addon to Firefox to remove them.

Final Conclusion: POF IS FREE, if you cant afford to pay a site then POF maybe would be for you. But you got to be careful what you get on it. Since the admins dont really take care of problems. As for the forum the administrator do better job of monitoring the activities than the owner of POF website.
If you are truly looking something more professional and better chance to find someone real and clean then maybe something eHarmony would be a better option since they do take care the members that have paid service.

Best way to find the truth about them if they are real, ask them where they are from and from there find out the newspaper in there town and then ask them can you please take a new picture of you holding the newspaper of today please. If they are real they should have no problem and dont accept the bullcrap about i dont have a cam. Pictures can be taken now with cellphones or digital cameras and yes webcam their is so much ways now to get yourself taking a digital photo that there is no excuse to give.
