But they also want some control over who they meet and communicate with.
Spark.com has all the features necessary to meet someone special online. But it does not match users with other members based on personality or compatibility assessments. It is up to you to find someone special, and this could be a positive or negative thing based on your expectations.

You are in the trap of a Scammer! Think about that!
This is a terrible Dating site! I was in the trap of Scammers when I first signed on with Widow in my profile. No recourse but yo reply to them!!!
Then you would not give me my money back when I wanted out. Now I am a pro at spotting a scammer!!! I have even helped their Scam team to educate them at spotting a Scam, and still come on there and find them. I have deleted more scams than the Scam team has in one months time. I hate myself. I come on here not to find a good man but to do the work of their staff of scam spotters!!!!

I met two Scammers on Spark.Com Dating web site. The way it starts they send you a flirt, then you reply to it and you are in ther grip. They the man tells you his yahoo email address and ask you to add them to your chat. I never had a yahoo chat before. He said it is real easy. When you get on the chat they tell you that they will delete their Dating profile and ask you to do the same so they can have you in their full control. Then sends you poetry. Asks you what kind of gift would you like? He is a jewelry maker, and wants to make you a Promise ring. He tells you that he loves you. Then he has to leave and go sell his fathers land in Africa. He takes his laptop with him and keeps in contact with you. While he was at the Lawyers office his motel where he stayed was robbed by robbers! Oh my! He has no money or credit card, and they took his lap top. He is using the computer in the lobby. He has to leave the motel, and no money for another place to stay or no money for food? Could I send him some money? I knew he was a scam. I was educated about scams when I felt one coming on, I went to web sites that told me how to spot a Scammer. He had a Scammers profile. I just wanted to see how he played the game. I told him I had no money. Then he said his investor could only send money to the states. Could I open an equity account so his Lawyer could send the investors money? He sent me a form that wanted my bank account number. Then the limit on the account, and even my social number. I told him no. Then he asked me could I send him $100. by western union so he could have a place to sleep amd food to eat. I told him NO, I couldn't afford to send him any money. I had to delete him from my Yahoo account, and he even messaged me on Face book??? I reported that to Spam. Spark.com is the worlds worse place to find a Dating Scam. It is a TRAP for inocent Widow women. You don't want to put Widow in your profile. If you do you are a victim of all Scammers!!!

I have met several scammers on Spark.com and beginning to wonder if any of the men are for real, They are very smooth talkers and they are targeting women a little older than them. I have met someone that claimed to be army but hey he could not cash his cashiers ck and needed money excuse me the army does not pay in cashiers checks or he claims not to have access to his money in a bank in the states and wants you to open a checking account for him, then there are the business men that travel and just happen to travel to africia and guess what lost their wallets. Spark need to clean its site up.

Sorry but had to laugh it was like reading all the scammer's I had come across. Do they really think that we are that stupid or that one person could have that much bad luck and require the help of a person they have never met!!!??? It's every dating site going now nowhere is safe. I got to the point where I couldn't help playing along with their game and even gave one a false western union MTNC number as a joke. But really it is sad that there are so many out there. Can spot them a mile off now. What I will say is that I had a chat with an ex scammer and to be honest it gave me a different view. Believe me I'm not jumping to their defence at all because what they do is wrong. But some country's such as Nigeria there seems to be no option for these people.To them this sort of scamming is better than going out and robbing someone with a gun. What a sad world we live in.

They advertise free email/response and yet that is a lie. You can do nothing but look for free NOTHING! I'm still looking for one that will allow you to email and respond for free. Haven't found one yet. It takes a lot of time to fill out these profiles. I'm sick of it. SICK

I just visited them. This is such a lie: "Unlike with those other guys Spark.com let’s you view profiles, read messages, and respond to messages all for free." You have to pay to IM or message people on there.
You should try http://dateinperson.com. It's free to have a profile on there so other people can "request a date" with you and vice versa.

On Spark.com and on Lavalife.com, I have come across the guy who went on a business trip to Africa, has no money and uses a laptop to communicate with women already. He has asked me for money too $600.00 to export the goods that he purchased while on his trip there, for his business. I've had 2 more encounters with - the same guy, I think it is the same guy - who has asked me for money time and again. Funny all these times he was heading over to some African countries like Nigeria etc. He had a kid who is being looked after by a distant Aunt or his own mom, he tells you. I never gave him any money, but it took my confidence away from online dating. Hopefully if any women out there are reading these stories, if this can help them relialize and give them enough warning to stay away from these troubled personalities, when they come across the same person on any dating websites, then my job is done.
